Essentrics, shoes and shoes

I went to an essentrics class today at Lead Pilates and it was just as great as the other classes I have taken.  I really, and truly love going to classes there!  But I found doing the class in bare feet this time was not great - my poor little feet got sweaty and started to slip a bit.  Which got me thinking that I sure do wish those shoes I had purchased (they are kind of like the "barefoot" vibram shoes but without the individual toes) had worked out for me.  But alas I had to return them.  At the time I had also tried on a whole pile of the Vibrams but none fit properly - they all put pressure on my one little toe in an unpleasant way.  Oh well.  I guess maybe I will just have to settle for some of the toe socks with the little grippers on the bottom.

But on the other front regarding shoes I did get a nice pair of sandals at this big shoe sale today.  They were marked down a long way and they were really comfy - it will be nice to have a slightly dressier sandal to wear this summer.

TRX butt kicking

Well my TRX class kicked my butt today in a good way.  Lots of work on the legs (they were like jelly when I was done).  But I am still going to do at least some of my physio exercises tonight.  Want to keep working on that mini-goal and I am a long way away from it yet.  Although I would say I probably did about 35 or 40 squats today so maybe that counts off the squats portion of things for today - I will just do the other ones.

Also took my brother's dog for a little walk/run tonight too.  So all in all it was a good active day!

More than I thought

So today I was over making brunch at my sister's place.  And back before I got my wii fit (sometime around August) I had done a mii on the wii fit at her place.  So I thought hey I should check what my weight was then.  And low and behold it was 111.3 so two KG higher than what I was at the start of January when I started doing the Weight Watchers. So since August last year I have actually lost an additional 2K.  So that is kind of nice to know.

Today I got back into the my routine on the wii.  It is kind of funny how, after doing the pilates for quite a while now, the yoga on the wii fit seems really slow.  But it is really good since it is also good for a person to be able to hold a posture for a while as it works the body in a different way than the movement that goes on in Pilates.  But I was surprised that my pilates work hadn't improved some of those things a lot more - but like I said it is a different kind of work.  So I think I am going to set myself up a short routine and try to start doing it a little more often to get that kind of work into the mix.

Changing my layout again!

I always seem to be making tweaks and adjustments to my blog here.  Just looking for the thing that works - although I suspect there is nothing that will work all the time, there will always be a new thing that I want to add to help me along or something I want to take out because it is no longer helping me along.

So today I am thinking that the short term goals on the side don't really add anything for me in their current state - but I do think I still want to have a short term goal along the side.  Just want it to be different than the things that are there now.

I also think I can dispense with the little table where I was reporting the number of minutes I was spending on my workouts - doesn't seem like that is the most important thing to me right now.  The big thing for me is whether I am getting something physically and mentally from the workouts.  So I can talk about that without some table listing minutes spent.

On the note of getting something from my workouts - I had a good one this morning on the wii fit - haven't done one of those routines in quite a long time now.  The big thing I noticed is that when I did the downward dog I was really surprised and impressed with how much difference I feel in my arms and how they feel when doing it. They are definitely getting stronger and I am very happy with that since I didn't really realize how much work they are probably getting from my pilates and other stuff!

Run for the Cure

I don't imagine I will actually run very much of the 5K.  It will really be more of a ralk (1/4 run and 3/4 walk - although I admit that is probably a generous estimate of the amount of running I will do).

Today signaled my return to Pilates class.  It felt so great to get moving again.  Although I do think all the time off left my back a little bit susceptible to a little twinge - so I will keep my eyes on myself to make sure I don't load work into my back when it is supposed to be elsewhere.

Would rather have gained

I had an overly high loss of weight this week and honestly I would rather have had a gain because I am sure this loss signals the loss of some hard earned lean muscle.  And I just feel generally like a sack of poo because I am sick.  Well hopefully I will start feeling better soon.  I am really missing my workouts.

Who'da Thunk It

Having been sick this past little while I haven't been working out at all (got a walk in the one day and my physio exercises a couple times) but I can say that I am just dying to get back to my workouts.  I miss them so much.  A year ago I might have said maybe I would miss it if I started up with squash again but anything else workout like I would have doubted that I would be so into it.

Yet here I am wanting mostly to get over this nasty cold so that I can get back to my workouts.  And there it is a change in my mental state that is really and truly meaningful and something I can see myself taking through the rest of my life!

New Pics - April Comparison

Well I am down with a really rotten cold so I had to miss pilates class today.  But once again I have to say that the change, especially in my side view, really has to be credited in large part to my pilates at Lead Pilates.  I am sure that I could have lost the weight I have lost without it.  But I don't believe I could have come anywhere near so far in flattening my abdomen without the pilates.

Well today should be the day I post my comparison pictures - with the new one for the start of the month but I am going to be waiting until tomorrow this month - since I have a stinky cold and didn't want a giant red nose in the picture.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a little better.
